Online storefront

Where: Website (all sections)
Who can use it: Permission: website.manage_themes, website.edit_pages, website.manage_blog, website.manage_menus, website.manage_widgets (each for its own screen), settings.update or manage settings (the Website section is hidden from roles without one of them). The customer website itself is a separate deployment, see Online storefront.
Open this page in SureTill

The storefront is a separate website for your customers. It is not part of the admin. It reads your menu, branches, offers, reviews, pages, blog and theme from SureTill and sends the orders back to your POS, where they arrive like any other online order.

Each restaurant has its own storefront build. At build time it is given the address of the SureTill API and the key of your restaurant (the tenant key). The storefront sends that key with every request, so it only ever shows your data. Customers use your own domain; SureTill sets it up for you. Because it is a separate deployment, ask support for the address and for any change to the domain.

The header has your logo, an order type switch (Delivery, Takeaway, Dine-In when more than one is on), a branch picker, a dish search, the cart, a dark mode button and Sign in. The navigation bar below it comes from Website > Menus. The footer has your tagline, a newsletter box, social links, Order links, your footer menu, contact details and the opening hours of the branch the customer picked.

  1. The customer picks a branch (when you have more than one) and an order type. A branch offers Delivery and Takeaway unless they are turned off in the branch settings. Dine-In is offered only when it is explicitly switched on.
  2. On the menu page the customer picks a category, searches by name or description, turns on filters (Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Spicy, New, Popular) and sorts by Most popular, Price low to high or Price high to low. Top rated appears when some dishes have ratings.
  3. A filter button is shown only if at least one dish matches it, so set the dish flags on the product.
  4. Clicking a dish opens a window with the photo, description, allergens, preparation time, calories, rating and the price, with the saved amount when there is a compare price.
  5. If the dish has options, the customer must pick one. Add-on groups follow your rules: Required groups must reach the minimum, and the maximum stops further picks.
  6. A note for the kitchen of up to 200 characters and a quantity from 1 to 20 are available. The Add to cart button shows the total.
  7. A dish that is inactive or sold out shows Sold out. A dish with available-from and available-until times shows a message outside those times and cannot be added.

The cart is stored in the customer’s browser. The cart drawer shows each line with its options, quantity buttons, the subtotal and the order type. Tax, service charge and delivery fee are worked out at checkout.

  1. The customer clicks Checkout. A guest is asked to sign in or create an account first. The cart is kept.
  2. Step 1 (Delivery or Details): choose the order type, a saved or new delivery address (delivery) or see the branch (pickup, dine in), choose As soon as possible or a time, enter a phone number of at least 6 digits and optional notes.
  3. The delivery area check uses the coordinates of the chosen address against your delivery zones. A zone shows its fee, minimum order and estimated time. An address outside every zone is refused.
  4. Scheduled times are every 15 minutes for the next 7 days, inside the branch acceptance hours, at least the preparation time (at least 5 minutes, default 15) from now, in the branch time zone.
  5. If the branch is not taking immediate orders, As soon as possible is off and the customer must choose a time.
  6. The order must reach the minimum order of the zone or the branch.
  7. Step 2 (Payment): choose Card, Cash or Wallet, a tip (None, 5, 10 or 15 percent of the subtotal) and an optional promo code.
  8. Step 3 (Review): check the details and tick the agreement. Click Place order, or Pay and place order for card.
Payment option When it is offered
Card Only when you have connected an online card gateway. The customer is sent to a secure payment page and returns to the order page. A card terminal method at the till does not count.
Cash (Cash on delivery, Pay at pickup, Pay at the restaurant) On, unless the restaurant turns cash off for online orders.
Wallet When the wallet feature is on, a Wallet payment method exists and the wallet balance covers the order total. The order is placed first, then paid from the wallet. If the wallet payment fails the order stays placed and the customer sees a message.
  1. After placing, the customer lands on the order page (card payments go to the payment page first).
  2. The page shows Waiting for your payment, Waiting for the restaurant, Order accepted, Being prepared, Ready, On the way and Delivered or Collected. Pickup orders have no On the way step.
  3. It refreshes every 3 seconds while a payment or your accept decision is pending (up to 20 minutes), and every 10 seconds otherwise.
  4. If you reject the order, the page shows your reason and says a paid amount was refunded.
  5. The customer can cancel while the order is pending or confirmed and not waiting for payment. They can also Reorder, which puts the items back in the cart.
  6. Without signing in, a guest can enter the order number on /track to see the status. Lookups work for 7 days and are rate limited.
  1. Create account asks for Full name, Email, Password and its confirmation. Phone and Referral code are optional.
  2. If email codes are on, a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes is sent to verify the email. The customer can skip for now.
  3. Forgot password sends a 6-digit code by email; the customer enters it with a new password.
